Ms. Carol F. Gillett has 16 years of experience serving as a teacher and as a counselor.  During her educational career, she has taught at elementary and the middle school level.  She was counselor on the middle school and high school level.  She strives at providing students the tools needed to be successful in their educational process not only academically, socially, but post-secondary as well.  She has served as the high school counselor for the past 2 years.

In her role as the high school counselor she has provided the students with the needed tools to select coursework to be successful in high school and help them in picking their career goals.  Through the collaboration with the dual enrollment and career advisor and our leadership team, our entire senior student body has been accepted to a college or university for the past 2 years.  Along with my belief, Taft high school has a No Excuses mindset and created a post-secondary atmosphere.

In July of 2014, Ms. Gillett was selected to speak at the House Bill 5 Parent Summit in Austin. She spoke about the success of Taft students, implementing the House Bill 5 Foundation Plan, and answered questions regarding college and career readiness.

Ms. Gillett holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M-Kingsville.  She also received a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A&M-Kingsville as well.
